King Island is located 120km (approximately 45min flying) from the shores of mainland Victoria or Tasmania.
With Australia’s largest lighthouse in the Southern Hemisphere, King Island is 64km long by 26km wide. Bass Lodge is a 15 minute drive from the airport
Several airlines fly to King Island from Melbourne each day. Regional Express (Rex) departs from Melbourne Airport at least once a day, with additional flights sometimes available in the summer. Sharp Airlines departs from Essendon Airport twice a day.
King Island Airlines depart from Moorabbin airport, which is easily accessed from the centre of Melbourne (take the train to Cheltenham railway station and then switch to a taxi for the short trip to the airport).
If you’re coming in from Tasmania, you can depart from either Launceston or Burnie (Wynyard). Sharp Airlines have up to two flights per day.
